Sheryl Tafft Memorial Cup
The Sheryll Tafft Memorial is run annually to mark the passing of a very special Kidz Kartz parent.
Sheryll was an active committee member of Kidz Kartz whose passion and drive was instilled into the club right from the early years.
Waikato Kidz Kartz would like to take this opportunity to thank the Butler and Tafft families for their generous support to enable the club to remember Sheryll with the running of this special event.
The major event for Waikato Kidz Kartz is the Dunstan Feeds Waikato Cup. The race is hosted Waikato Racing Club at Te Rapa Raceway every year. Two Heats with two races are held prior to determine nominations and handicaps.
Otaki Exhibition Weekend
In mid January each year a group of club ponies and drivers pack up and head south to the Otaki Races where Kapiti Coast Harness Racing are our hosts.
With racing on a Friday and Sunday the event is arranged into a Drivers challenge. Drivers and ponies are selected randomly over the two days. On the Sunday there is a presentation acknowledging drivers and sponsors.
Equidays (October 13-15 2017)
This has become one of the Clubs major annual fundraising days. It is an awesome weekend of showing off our ponies and talking to the public about what happens within our Club.
It is a busy day with lots of kids and "big kids" enjoying an introduction to pony trot racing. The Club tent is set up with
a picnic atmosphere where people are geared up with helmet, colours and safety vest.
Waikato Kidz Kartz would like to thank the Equidays for opening up a spot for the club each year.
Tokoroa Greyhound Drivers Challenge
The Tokoroa Grey Hound Drivers Challenge Cup involves nominated Waikato Kidz Kartz club drivers and ponies. The drivers and ponies are selected randomly over several races during the course of the day. Points are awarded depending on the order of finishing. The overall points determine the Challenge Cup holder for the season.
Grass Track Races
Throughout the season the club follows many of the grass meetings. The Pirongia Boxing Day, Te Awamutu, Te Aroha, Tauranga, Otaki just to name a few. With big crowds attending it is a great way to showcase the kids racing.
